Common People 2001
In 2000 Kyra was looking for Musicians to form a band in order
to finally record and perform her first album. Having difficulties
finding trustworthy members, she was contemplating the idea of recording
the whole thing herself with the help of Partner/Recording Engineer
Mark Radford, when along came an offer for her to join, “Common
People,” a duo looking for a female vocalist to team up and
co-write/produce an album. With only a few tracks required to complete
it, Kyra put her own album on stand-by and wrote, “If Only”
and “Delusional” which feature on the album. She also
offered a sample of a song she wrote at age 12, “Dead Girl
On Earth,” which was commented as one of the favorite tracks
on the album.
After spending 3 months in the studio, the three “Common
People” completed and pressed the album. A few tracks were
performed live on numerous shows and were well received.
“…It is so refreshing to work with talented Musicians.
We all had a lot of fun in the studio with countless memorable moments
that helped over-ride the occasional ‘bum’ note! Every
track on the album is different and takes you on another journey.
I’ve worked with lot’s of great Musicians and writers
but this project made it more apparent that you can never have too
much ‘hands on’ experience when it comes to working
with all ‘genre’ of music industry folk - and to quote
what someone once said about me in reference to my shows…’just
when you think you’ve seen it all…then comes the surprise’”
