Race For Record Deal (Press Release) - 20-02-08
Saturday 29th March. St Georges Bristol.
Get your tickets NOW!!! Details at bottom of article.

Mega-Talent Kyra Bernice from Bristol has made it through from over 10,000 singers and bands across the country to perform at the live stages of Live & Unsigned. She is deservadly now in the TOP 15 Bristol Female Unsigned acts.
Live and Unsigned is a national music competition for unsigned bands and singers to compete live. With over 10,000 registrations in 2007 it is the biggest music talent search outside a certain ITV show. The difference with Live and Unsigned is that the acts taking part are encouraged to do their own thing; be individual, original, perform their own genre and style Live. The competition’s aim is to find potential recording artists with the National final being held in London.
Chris Grayston, Events Director of Live & Unsigned explains “This cannot be compared to any other talent searches as the acts talent is the show. We are interested in discovering and exposing talent at its best; live! It is as simple as we say Get Live, get signed.”

The competition has winners in categories of best individual female, male and Best Live & Unsigned band. With the overall adult winner/s of the competition getting a Recording and management contract with Future Music with an investment of up to £20,000 invested in them to release their single with Future Music. The Under 18’s winner has the option to record a track written by Lemar and Mark Hill (Craig David’s producer) and will additionally get to record an album.
The winners will be crowned the UK's best Live and Unsigned acts in front of a capacity crowd, including many professionals from within the music industry. They will be thrust into the media spotlight through television, radio and the press and furthermore all winners will all be invited on the UK Live and Unsigned Tour. The tour involves as many as 100 gigs across the UK including the chance to perform live at some well known festivals. The 2007 competition boasts ITV coverage which is also planned for 2008.
Paul King from Future Music, who is better known in the music industry as the former Manager of Tears for Fears, Julian Cope, Level 42 and tour Manager for Genesis says “We have found that the competition is so effective for us to discover talented acts and bands and to place them in the music market place. We can really see those acts that have the commitment and fan base to be successful in the industry…and for the acts involved it is a great opportunity to develop, improve and impress.”

Powerful Singer/Songwriter Kyra Bernice made it through the auditions at St george's Bristol amongst hundreds that queued patiently for their turn in front of the judges.

Kyra is now preparing for the Live stages where she will compete amongst fifteen other hopefuls in their Live show on the 29th March 2008 for a place in the Regional Final. For more information go to the website www.liveandunsigned.uk.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kyra Bernice on 'Brian Conley's Let Me Entertain You' - 05-06-07

Fancy seeing some vocal talent on telly for a change?? Kyra Bernice makes it happen for you!! Bristol's own rock bitch rocks BBC2!!! Finally, someone on telly who can really sing guys? Check it out! Yes, I went to the audition in London for the new series of 'Let Me Entertain You'. Not usually the sort of thing I would go for - an audience armed with buzzers ready to send you off for the walk of shame - but as you know if you read below, I didn't quite know what I got myself into! I got through the first two auditions and I had to wait 2 weeks to hear if I'd made the third one.

They said they were looking for a few more singer/songwriters to peform their original music so I thought that was a pretty good gig to get since that isn't anything like the 'Shat Factor' type programs. I got through all 3 auditions in the end on the strength of my performance of 'So True & Quite New' from my album (played acoustically to the auditioners) however, I think for copyright reasons, everyone had to perform a cover. Obviously, we'll have pictures, promo and even the video of the performance here for you to watch again or if you missed the program, so come back soon.

Watch me on Wednesday June 13th at 6:30pm on BBC2. I think I am the the 3rd act on the show and I think I brought the roof down! The aim of the game is to keep the audience entertained for a maximum of 3 minutes. If 50 of the 100 people have had enough, your off! I did extrememly well but I don't want to ruin anything so I'll wait until it's been aired before I write anymore on the subject. DO NOT MISS! And tell all your friends.

Oh, and look out for my Mum, Dad & his partner, Mark and Luke in the audience.

Get Drunk & Get An Audition! - 10-02-07

The following information has returned to me in sections over the last couple of months, read on to know why>>>

After a good night out and a few well-deserved bevvies, I came home and did a little web surfing. Having probably chatted crap to a few mates on MSN I then somehow stumbled on this link saying 'BBC New Talent'. Feeling a little low after the E.I.S split I clicked it to find this form that I've since discovered I completed with 'great' detail. That's all I can tell you because that's all I know.

I then receive an email from BBC saying thank you for the application and that they may get back to me. I thought it was spam since I had no memory of filling anything out for the BBC and deleted it. 4 weeks later I get a phonecall from a woman at Lion Television congratulating me on getting the audition. After accepting the audition I had to quite awkwardly ask what the **** it was for! She was quite surprised and so was I! I told her someone must've set me up and I was wrecking my brain trying to think who this person could be. Anyway, it took me 2 weeks to remember.

It turns out that the audition was for the new series of 'Let Me Entertain You'.

E.I.S Split - 06

In the words of one of my favourite song it's 'sad but true' that Etched in Stone came to a graceful but rather sudden end. You'll be sorry to hear that noone ripped anyone's head off or smashed someone's kit up although, one member in particular was lucky I didn't. Ya know what? It doesn't matter now. You have to learn in this business that some people just arn't very good at handling situations and are perhaps too young to understand that it makes you a better person to be honest and have the guts to say how you feel rather than mess other people around. I'm sure the tables will turn at some point.

I would like to thank Rob, Steve and Kris for helping me get my songs out there live and played in some great venues, for bringing ideas to the table and being a laugh. It is a shame that some of us weren't too keen on following up the hard work but never mind, it was a lovely experience and I hope we all learnt something from it. We certainly made an impression. Thanks for all the support of our fans! Videos of the Carling Academy gig up shortly!

I will be starting a new project very soon so see this> .................................watch it!

Bunch & Croft - 25-08-06

Time for a little update. Things have been progressing well both with my solo work and band set up. Etched In Stone lined up to play the Bunch Of Grapes, The Carling Academy and our last gig to date, The Croft (10th August 06) which went brilliantly.

The Bunch was great but I think they wanted us more on an acoustic setup. We were a bit confused since we were asked to bring the whole band along. Maybe next time we could be a tad quieter? Maybe? Nevertheless, it was great to be there. The crowd was great and we had a good response. We hope to return on a better understanding of what's required...hey...nobody left! haha

Next up...the biggy: 'Carling Academy Final!!' It seems like no matter what avenue I take, I get the same response. I've spent what seems like a lifetime being told I'm too established for this or my voice is too good for that - I'm too young for this but too old for that. It's a compliment usually, but under the worst circumstances! Out of all the bands who entered Emergenza, and the 15 we were up against that day, our's came 3rd in the Grand Final. It just so turns out that I made a mistake and it wasn't the best 3 bands that went on to play at London...it was the best TWO. I have to say however that we all really loved the gig and made a hell of a lot of fans. It was packed and we had the crowd's attention throughout our whole performance. Of course we wanted to get through but there is no bitterness because we still can't believe we got that far after being together only 4 months. Things can only get better right? ;o)

We've since been told that the main reason we didn't make 2nd place is because we looked too 'organised' and didn't appear to need any help in moving up the scale *please excuse me while I pull my hair and scream for 30seconds...make that a minute*

Whether this is true or not remains to be resolved but I think we'll leave it there anyway since we're so advanced we should know all this already. Nothing personal about Emergenza.....they rock....but yet again, keeping typical to my career opportunities, I'm held back because I've spent 16 years polishing and working myself, at times, beyond recognition, to be the best I can be. Always aim to be the best at what you do and don't stop at nothing less? The downfall for this common statement is, there used to be a time when the music industry were looking for the best, now it seems average or below will suffice. Well whatever, we learned a lot from this event and our fans also loved the ride!

The Croft went great. Small place as most of you know but we played alongside some talented bands and had an appreciative crowd there to watch us to our thing. Thanks to Rob for bagging the gig. We all loved it and since I was the only one not driving...well...ummm....maybe a few went down the indulgence tunnel!. We played our new song 'Liars Seed' and the crowd loved it so check out our website to grab a download or live video soon - Rob does some mad vocals on it! haha Over and Out.

Carling Academy Tickets On Sale NOW! - 14-06-06

Hurry hurry! Just 3 weeks to go before the big final! I received the tickets today and have already flogged a few - not bad going eh? Get in touch to find out how to purchase your tickets (£6) unless you want to pay £8 on the door.

The voting system for this final is similar to the previous heats. 6 bands will go through to the judges panel based on the total hand votes gained after their performance. Then, the judges sift through those lucky 6 and pick and even luckier 3 to progress to the grand final at London's Astoria. Needless to say...if you've thought about attending an E.I.S show and haven't made it then THIS is the one to get to guys! We really need your support!

Happy Birthday To Me - 11-06-06

I don't really need to say much else do I? Singing, dancing, drinking, hangover. And now on to the next news.

I saw Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes on the 10th June as a Bday treat and they were fabulous. Splashed out on some golden circle tickets that turned out to be well worth the unnecessary cost. He came out and sang the first song directly in front of me on a walkway which he used again later to kneel down reach over and hold my hand! Thus the gushy grin there. Yeah yeah, you don't believe me right? Well just let me figure out how to get my phone footage on here and you can see for yourself! I've got to show you - it's amazing. I always swore I'd be reserved and cool if I ever got to 'touch' JBJ...but nope... I mounted some guys back spreadeagled, reached out and screamed in his face like a silly little gal - well I gave him a nice smile afterwards, ya know, just in case;o)

I've always had a soft spot for the BJ guys. Been quite an influence in the past and why not? They play great, JBJ has a brilliant voice and although their songs have been a little repetative at times over the years, they still sell out every concert and keep coming through with the goods. I came away feeling slightly gutted though because that should be me up on that stage! I could do what he did up there night after night and still keep going - bring it on. You wait until you see my first gig in a stadium - it'll look like I've been doing it for years - probably because I HAVE!

E.I.S Playing 'The Carling Academy' - 22-05-06 The phrase 'fruits of my labour' comes to mind at present. Anyone who has seen me these last few days will say that I have this odd grin 'etched' on my face. And why not? I hoped to form a band with good Musicians and get a couple of half decent starter gigs. What I have right now is much more than I expected after such a short time.

I am overwhelmed to let you know (if you haven't already found out via www.etchedinstoneuk.com) that we not only got through to the 'Carling Academy' Final of Emergenza on Friday at Fiddlers, but we came FIRST! I have exactly what I wished and worked for; Amazing Musicians and some very impressive starter gigs: The Beirkeller, The Fiddlers Club and The Carling Academy!

So after a mere 12 weeks, my band can say that we're playing one of the hottest and biggest venues in Bristol on 8th July (playing times as yet TBC) This is so much more than any of us anticipated. Firstly, Emergenza came as a surprise to us to begin with as we thought all the slots were taken. We just can't believe we got this far already after such a short time together. Not that we doubted for a second. I, for one, have had no doubt that DGOE with a full band set up would create something of a stir. We know we have something 'SO TRUE AND QUITE NEW' and that was not my words this time folks...that came from an A&R guy before he even saw the band- so let's leave it at that ;o)

OK, I've deleted about 20 lines from this section now because I keep getting too philosophical about why I'm wherever I am - let's just say this: you control your fate as much as you are able and you may work like a dog and burn yourself out to the point of physical and mental exhaustion(cue violins please) You know you have a talent that affects your life every day and if it makes you feel the way you do then why not try to let it affect everyone elses life? Ya know, see what happens. I was brought up to share and be honest. I am offering to share my talent and I definitely know that it's genuine, honest and fresh. I wish the music industry could afford the same approach. They buy rotten food and sell it as new. E.I.S should change all that eh? hahah *really cheeky wink*

What's Going On? - 5-05-06

At the moment I'm posting almost the same news twice; once here for you guys and also over at the 'Etched In Stone' Website. This is a confusing yet exciting time for me. I can honestly say I am in limbo right now. This site is KYRA BERNICE-DEAD GIRL ON EARTH and will continue to be for as long as I breathe however there is so much going on with the band right now that I find any news worth posting here is band related! Dilemma! OK, let's say this is my 'personal home'. This is the K.B realm! Everything that's going on with yours faithfully will be posted here and if it's band related then I'll tell you but you'll have to go to the band website to find out more - deal?

Etched In Stone Website Launch - 27-04-06

One set of hard work finishes and another begins. The E.I.S website is almost finished and ready to rock n' roll guys! I've been busy getting it ready for all those juicy goodies I know you're all dying to see. So right now you could call it a nicely wrapped box with..erm..not a great deal in it! You can find it by clicking the link on the front page here at K.B.Com or the official address: www.etchedinstoneuk.com not to mention our myspace page www.myspace.com/etchinstone which is still awaiting our Mp3's as yet, but get on over and add us anyway!

E.I.S.com will feature more than you're head can take so bear with us as we add all the necessaries for your browsing pleasure (Audio&Video real soon) There are already lyrics, contact details, gigs, a news/personal diary and some great live photos of our first 2 gigs up on the site, and over the next few days you will be able to visit each band member's profile page and find out a little more about the guys who make up this 'so true and quite new' set up...so go check it out...what ya waiting for?

One Gig And A Band Launch - 21-04-06

Pre-thought: I can't believe I feel so full of life after the gruelling 4 weeks I've had! Mental note: get Manager! In between promoting, rehearsing, gigging and giving what I have left for domestic matters, I still managed to fit in a friendly virus which kindly stuck around for the whole duration of this saga. It was even thoughtful enough to wait until the day after my current goals were met and the hard work paid off, to just...vanish. It left me with a feeling of ambivalence: am I pleased it's gone? Or do I want it to come back to prove it wasn't just fucking with my head! Probably just as well I had tons going on because despite having a throbbing throat and feeling like utter shit for 10 days during the busiest, stressful period this year, it didn't beat this bitch! I must admit that I pushed my voice dangerously close to the edge - but for this - I had to, but never again! Natural remedies are the best. Remind me to give you the ingredients for my special 'Witches Brew'!!

Emergenza Success: Putting bugs and germs aside, these last couple of weeks have been fantastic. Not only have I been presenting Emergenza (4 nights in a row at one point) but the bands very first live performance at 'The Fiddlers' went down a storm and we also made it through to the semi-finals by gaining 13 extra votes to the fans we brought. Nobody could believe we'd only been together for 8 weeks and neither could we to be honest! We all gave our best performance and played brilliantly. Much praise to the E.I.S boys for taking on the DGOE songs and making them sound as great as they do!

Positives: The after party was a great! I danced and head-banged the rest of the night away with the guitarist from 'The Smir' (couldn't move my neck for 2 days) and got very drunk! I met some great guys backstage. Jay and Dec from the rock band 'Skandal' who put on a fantastic performance as the guest band for the evening. I vaguely recall licking someone's guitar strings...eeewww! Sean, who presented the night fabulously (in my absence) and is the lead singer of the band 'The Smir' was a right laugh and true rocker. Rich (Smir Drummer) who is also the event organiser for Emergenza is great to work with and has done a great job of the event so far.

Positives: Both 'Skandal' and 'The Smir' have asked if I'd partake in the recording of their new albums in London which is something I'd love to do as I'm always up for working with other talented musicians. I'll keep you informed on that one. I'll also post the links for the two bands on the site so you can check out these wild guys of rock!

I'd also like to say a big well done to all the bands who performed at the Emergenza heats. There has been some quality and some...well...nah, better not!

Band Launch: And finally, the nerves and adrenalin were running high but we did it, and we did it well. 'Etched In Stone' officially launched at the Bierkeller Wednesday night and we have all the footage and pics here to prove it. Also from the Fiddlers. You can look forward to watching all the clips very soon. We are very eager to get them on the site so keep checking back. Thanks to everyone who showed up, I hope we gave you a great night. And for those few who didn't (and could've???) well, my shit-list just got a little longer! Kris, Steve and Rob did themselves proud and Rob even gave us his vocal debut during 'Silent Speaking' AND got a cheer for it! I'm so happy the first gig is done. Rock on and bring on the rest of em'. I'm now going to go to sleep - see you next week!

Etched In Stone - Emergenza Festival - 05-04-06

Things are going well, pretty damn well actually. Gig offers are rolling in for the band and it's all getting a bit exciting around here. I might just have to crack open my 3rd bottle of Bacardi tonight ;o) We know the official band launch is taking place at the Beirkeller on 19th April but it looks like there might be a chance for you to get a sneak preview before the big night.

As most of you know I will be presenting 'Emergenza Unsigned Festival' this year beginning this Friday at 'Fiddlers', Bedminster, Bristol and ending at 'London Astoria'. The following Friday (14th) I shall be there again but not as presenter....Etched In Stone will be competing along with 5 other bands to get through to the semi-finals at the Carling Academy! It's all a bit short notice but nevertheless we will do our best to shift some tickets and hope we get a bit of a following to show us some support. This is quite important because the winner is chosen by hand votes! Oh dear! And obviously, since we're not officially established, and the 14th will be the very FIRST live performance for us, things could be a little tricky! But never mind. Winning or losing is irrelevant. There's lot's in store for us this year and we're just happy to be lining up the gigs and gathering 'the faithful'. Plus, most of you have skinted yourselves out buying the keller tickets! Go and ask Yo Mamma if you can borrow twenty quid til Monday guys! It'll be well worth it ;o)

We are going to be the first band on at 9pm so if you fancy coming along for a preview then send us an email and we'll sort your tickets out. Tickets are £6 or £8 on the door. Please try to come along as we can deal with a few votes but none?? OMG! That's just MEAN!

Thanks to all those who have sent emails wishing us all the best with the gigs and offering your undying support even though you haven't actually seen us play yet. You won't be disappointed and we all look forward to meeting you....especially if you're good looking! And thanks to Emergenza for this opportunity.

Macmillan Fund Raiser A Success - 20-03-06

I'd just like to thank Sarah and Rene for asking me to perform at the Macmillan cancer relief charity show last Wednesday. It was a lovely night and I enjoyed my set very much. All together they raised over £1200 and were still counting when I left and that's always good to hear. It was also nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the evening for a change. Well.... myself, good friend Beckie and can you believe it...my Mother! were suspiciously hovering near the pole dancers cage at the top of the club, seeing who had the guts to get in there first...it wasn't me...it was my little Mummy! Allow me to share a couple of raunchy pictures from the night with you but watch out! My Mother is a bombshell! ;o) K.B

K.B & The Band HEADLINING The Keller! - 14-03-06

We thought it was worth a spot in news to mention that there has been a slight change of plan to the line-up for the Bierkeller Raw Talent night...

We are very pleased to announce that K.B & Etched In Stone are now billed to headline the evening! The event will now feature 4 Female Rock Bands so don't miss this one boys!!

This is excellent news for us and for you. All the support you've given us so far has paid off, the word is spreading and as a result, we now get to blow you away and give ya something to go home thinking about....hopefully where we're playing next! and we should be able to give you those details on the night PLUS copies of our first 3-track EP and if you bring 3 other people with you on the night, you'll get one of these FREE!

So go and tell all your mates and get them to the hottest gigs in Bristol on Wednesday 19th April and don't forget to arrive early to show some support to the other bands - we're all unsigned together in this remember! If you spot a flyer - pick it up and pass it on.

Thanks to Mike Nut of 'Raw Talent' for giving unsigned bands this great opportunity. (Check out the <<<<link to view other raw talent events.)

Band Launches @ The Bristol Bierkeller 19th April - 01-03-06

It looks like it's full steam ahead for the band at last. Before we begin with the juicy stuff, we'd just like to point out that it's probably pissing you off as much as it is us that we have to keep referring to the new band as....well....'the band'. We are currently in deep discussions over what name to settle with. We have narrowed it down to a classic few, but they're all a little TOO classic to let go, ya know? Rest assured it will be announced extremely soon - that's all we can say on that for now.

Finally, we all have something to look forward to. The very first gig for K.B and the band has been firmly booked. As most of you already know it's being held at 'The Bristol Bierkeller" on Wednesday 19th April. As we mentioned below, it's a raw talent night featuring 3 other bands and we will be supporting the headlining act, 'You & The Atom Bomb". Being our launch gig, there is no doubt that this show will completely ROCK. We have released a rehearsal clip into circulation as a little clue to what's in store for the night.

The tickets are now available so hurry and place your reservation via the BOX OFFICE in contact details. The tickets are £5.00. Be sure to tell the door staff you're there to see us if you would prefer to pay at the door. All payments for reservations must be received by 1st April.

You can expect a number of DGOE songs with a whole new flavour, a couple of brand new tracks, which will blow your socks off and perhaps one or two kick ass covers that only a rock bitch like Kyra could vocally pull off.

There is no doubt we now have a team of professional and extremely talented musicians on board. You've met Khris our Drummer, what a find! He has huge faith in this project and has been determined to make it happen from the beginning (tidy!) Steve (lead guitar) and Rob (Bass) have recently joined us and for this, we thank the gods! Not only can they play fantastically, they are unique and creative with it - just the ingredient. You'll find out loads more about the guys when we get their profile pages up.

So you'll have to bear with us as we go through the paces to: expand the website (including and additional website with a new look to suit the band) record our debut EP, tart up for the photo-shoots, build an archive of video footage (The Bierkeller will be professionally filmed) sort the merchandise and um...settle on a name! We should perhaps do this first.

Don't forget that you are just as much a part of this process as we are so tell your friends, get involved and come chat to us over at the forum, maybe you have some ideas of your own. Support us from the beginning and we'll guarantee you a damn good time! See you all at the Keller!! (More news as it comes - bookmark this site)

Myspace.Com - 16-02-06

For those who haven't spotted the link yet, you might want to know that we now have our own website extension over at Myspace.Com. You can watch videos (soon) listen to 4 full songs from DGOE and post your comments for all to see. We do still have our chat forum here mind you, so don't neglect that! It just means you'll have to post in two places now!

Friends and fans are already growing so don't be one of the last, get on over there to sign up or just look around. Or if you are a band and think your music will compliment our page then please feel free to contact us and we'll be glad to add you and your banner to our list. We're adding to it on a daily basis so go ahead and click the link!

"The Bristol Bierkeller" (Launch Gig?) - 10-02-06

It very much looks like the 'official' launch gig for DGOE 'The Band' could be held at the 'Bristol Bierkeller' some time in April. Although this isn't a great deal of information, it's great news for us since we've been doing a bit of networking recently to grab that all important venue for the launch gig.

There's going to be what's called a 'Raw Talent' night at the club featuring 3 independant/unsigned bands. We have been asked by the organising Promoter - who visited K.B.Com and liked what he heard - if we'd like to be part of the line-up and support "You & The Atom Bomb".

The gig was scheduled for 1st March but as it's going to be a 'big deal' gig it's been re-scheduled for April (date to be confirmed) to allow more time for advertising and for the bands to be 100% ready or in our case, a band with all 5 members! A few changes in the line-up have taken place recently - nothing to worry about though as we knew the first few months would be a bit of switching, swapping and seeing what works.

Needless to say, we're really looking forward to it and well chuffed that our launch gig may turn out to be more high profile than at first thought. Fingers crossed that all goes to plan and the date is confirmed soon! Details should follow shortly so keep checking back.

K.B

I mentioned below that it's been a great start to 2006. This is correct. The end of 2005, however, many people found very upsetting, heart-breaking in fact. We all want to hear wonderful things here in K.B News, but this site represents what's going on in real life (no bullshit required) and like real life, as you know, things aren't always so great. So to keep true to our 'no bullshit' motto, I need to say this...

Things come to you at odd times - especially acceptance...this has no warning and can attack at any time. This is why It's 3:18am and I just got back out of bed, turned my PC on and am about to write this...

I woke up on New Years Eve to discover that I'd lost a very dear friend and my best fan. Many of you will remember him as 'that guy who used to get up and jump around when Kyra sang 'thorn in my side'. His name was Julian, he was known as Jay, but he was my Beavis! His complexity of names was ironically similar to what was going on in his head. He had Asperger's Syndrome which, when you saw him, spoke to him, listened to him speak, meant nothing. It's hard to believe he was struggling day in and day out with his thoughts (aren't we all?) He perceived life on earth like we do our dreams. He took the decision to end his own suffering.

All I want to say is that I loved this man. He was my guardian angel on earth. I've never met a more respectful, devoted, passionate man as Beavis. When I saw his face, I beamed. He loved my shows and was always there. He loved to sing. He'd been to more concerts in his 32 years than I'll probably go to in my lifetime! I gave him singing lessons for a year. His favourite song was 'Mad World' the Gary Jules version. I'd play the piano and he'd sing it with so much feeling - 'too much feeling' I often thought. His best song from 'DGOE' was 'So True And Quite New'. He always made sure I sang that. We'd spend many a night chatting into the early hours about complete crap or deep things before Mark would say 'I'll leave you two to it! I'm going to bed'. Beav has slept on my sofa more than I have! This is when he would open up and tell me what his head was telling him. Myself and many others close to him offered what advice we could.

It's very hard. And even though I'm at this point in my grieving, I am still getting the mixed feelings of anger and hurt...I know he wants to talk to me but until I let certain elements go, the barrier will remain. I'm working on it. I am devastated. Beavis represented everything that was pure, genuine, manly and loving. Illogical world = Enlargen your world. Enough said....

I would just like to send my love to all Julian's family especially his Mother Angela, his Sister Trevalyn and also his Girlfriend Gillian. Please just see him smiling... and smile yourself....in his words....

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
Enlargen your world

Band Update - Temp Line-Up - 25-01-06

Yes! It's been a great start to 2006. Here's a little update on what's been happening in K.Bdom.

The band is progressing very nicely and we're all getting desperate to get the show on the road. We should have some studio footage added very soon and also the very first band photo (against the other band members will) is going to be in our photo gallery but don't panic, you'll be relieved to know we will be booking the date to get our professional artwork done when all band members are fixed and let's hope (pray) that it looks better than what you'll witness in the gallery! Oh, to hell with it...let's get it up right here right now. Just a little snippet of the temporary line-up just to prove that I really am getting a band together!

So from the left, we have Johnny (Bass) Toni ( Temp. Keyboards, B.Vocals)Then we have yours faithfully (Lead Vocals; Rhythm) Then there's Genna (Lead Guitar, B.Vocals) Finally we have Khris (Drums), and boy! can he put some welly behind those sticks. Shocked us all the other night with what has to be his fastest roll yet! Definitely a cutie (sorry Khris!) The gals are just gonna love him! It's basically a mix n' match period for us right now so bear with us - I'm sure the end result will be well worth the wait.

The most important thing is that we're jellin' together nicely for now and having a great laugh doing it. Plans for the launch gig are being discussed for April/May to play it safe however, you will be the first to know if it's any sooner - keep yourself posted, you don't want to miss this.

Dead Girl On Earth - The Band - 21-10-05

We apologise for the lack of news of late but we did encounter a few minor problems when it came to updating our pages. Needless to say the problem has now been resolved, so we hope you enjoy reading our latest gossip and catching up with what's been happening over the last few months. K.B News Team

Hello everyone. I'm back! I have been saying it for a long time however, time is fleeting and unfortunately it hasn't come into fruition - until now. Those of you who missed the 'Dead Girl' Showcases last year will be pleased to read that the next set of shows will not be performed by I, Kyra Bernice as a solo act but a full band with loads more new material added from the follow up album. 'The band' (name as yet unresolved) are currently in the studio pefecting nominated tracks from the album, 'Dead Girl On Earth' for what's hoped to be a long run of loaded and charismatic live performances next year.

I am extremely happy with the outcome and overall sound so far and will be announcing the band members very soon. Obviously we'll be sticking with the style of 'Dead Girl' initially to keep it true to the album with perhaps an addition of a slightly more heavier sound - goody! A new band EP will also follow, featuring DGOE tracks plus lot's of surprises. After establishing 'the band', the group will be looking forward to collaborating on future albums. Finally, Kyra is no longer a one-woman-band! Even though I thought I took on the role quite well, I'm afraid it's time to 'bring in the boys'.

Without giving too much away, I think that's all I can say for now so keep checking back and we should have much more info for you real soon. Also, we should be adding more to the Photo Gallery hopefully including some of the band in the studio!

London Rocked! - 20-10-05

We're sure nobody was over-eager to use the tubes following the London bombings but the show must go on and most importantly, life goes on. Just seven days after these traumatic events Kyra travelled to London, hopped on the tubes and headed for the 'London Astoria', Emergenza finals, to assist in bringing unsigned talent into our musical mainstream.

The two dates in July were a great success and every band got the chance to perform their best in front of a 2000 strong audience plus notable figures from within the music industry. Nerves were running high but Kyra made sure she helped calm the bands backstage before introducing them by mentioning actually how many people were out there...

From 4pm to Midnight, it was pure rock of all styles and a showcase of immense talent. Although our Bristol boys didn't make it to the top spot, they won great prizes and also gained a lot of interest. Kyra ushered each band up to the VIP area to introduce them to the judges and industry folk and made some interesting contacts herself. <Watch this space> In short, a great interest was taken in the Kyra Bernice 'Dead Girl' project by a Sony representative which is leading toward a possibility of forthcoming 'Dead Girl' shows at 'The Live Virgin Stage' and 'The Rock Garden', London sometime in the new year, which will hopefully showcase the full band set up (K.B Band info coming soon) Naturally, all forthcoming dates & ticket info will be posted in the Tour section.

Courtesy Emerzenza UK 2005.

NB. Hey, that Goth-chick on the stage looks like me...ah, it is me! I would like to thank Emergenza for this opportunity. It was a pleasure working with professional and fun people and I look forward to working with you again in the new year, or perhaps even competing! (Thanks for the Vodca!) Please visit the Emergenza website (link below) for more info.

Carling Academy Rocked! - 04-07-05

Just two bands made it through to the Final of all Finals last night at the Carling Academy. 'Lescour' and 'Eleven-Eleven' will be heading off to the 'London Astoria' to fight it out with other successful UK bands that have made it though the heats all over the country. 'Blackchalk' came in 3rd place and also won best lead singer and bagged £400 worth of free studio time. All the bands performed brilliantly and the venue was packed solid with screaming fans.

The atmosphere backstage was ecstatic. Myself, Paul (sound engineer) and Tom (event organiser) got a little merry enjoying the VIP luxeries! I loved every second of it and made sure I wound the audience up to the maximum! I was quite surprised to see a few of my own fans out there seeing as I wasn't actually performing - that's dedication for you eh? Cheers guys ;o)

The whole evening ran according to schedule and there was no malice between the bands (well, maybe a little but that's Rock N' Roll!) It seems like I may get an opportunity to present one of the'London Astoria' finals (fingers crossed) which is pretty f***ing cool news as I'm sure those celebs will be chuffed that they'll be brushing shoulders with me! And of course it was great working with the guys at Emergenza. They were all friendly and real helpful and Elodie (Events Co-ordinater) was lovely. Even if I'm not presenting at London, I'll most certainly be there and probably get roped into doing something! Quite strange to be on the other side for a change - I took some valuble hints with me. Brit Awards next then eh???

Keep your eyes pinned to this space for more gossip or if you're interested in tickets for the London Finals Visit Emergenza UK for more info.

Kyra To Host EMERGENZA FINAL - 28-06-05

Kyra has been invited to present this years ' Emergenza ' final, the world's biggest unsigned band competition taking place at 'The Carling Academy' on 3rd July. She was first offered to host the heats but had to decline due to a tight work schedule. What is Emergenza....?

It's one of the major worldwide festivals for up and coming bands, offering the chance to perform in front of huge audiences including notable figures within the music industry. With the prospect of supporting 'Metallica' or the fact that 31 bands have already been signed to major record companies after competing, this makes 'Emergenza' the talent competition most unsigned bands are keen to be a part of! Emergenza is currently running in 14 cities in the UK and also all over the world.

Two bands out of the 14 competing on the 3rd July and the rest of the worldwide winners will be heading to the 'London Astoria' on 17th or 24th July to fight out the top position and a chance to support Metallica and other famous bands at the 'Taubertal Festival' in Germany.

NB: Hey there! I thought I'd just say that if anyone wants more info about Emergenza then click here to go to the Emergenza UK site. Whether you're interested in signing up for next year or want to know how you can get to one of heats, it's all there.

It's a shame I won't be competing, maybe next year when the band is together. I'm actually not sure if they allow solo performers to participate so I'll ask about that on Sunday at the Academy. This is a great opportunity for me to check out all that fresh talent ( musical talent guys;o)) and hopefully meet some interesting people. My job will be to host the evening, present the bands and count the votes - it's the audience/musician vote that will take 6 bands through to a panel of judges, then it's up to them to pick the lucky 2 bands! I really can't wait. Should be heaps of fun and quite exciting to be part of the adrenaline and nerves that will no doubt be filling the air. It'll be equally nice to be on the other side for a change! I'll let you all know how it goes.....

Bubbles Anyone??? - 14-03-05

It's been a tough couple of months trying to decide which song to record first, what lyrics to finish next and sifting through all the demo tracks, but things are finally on the move and looking quite nicely mapped out for the follow up album to 'DGOE'. Then comes that inevitable question: So what are you going to call the new album? Ah? 'Dead Girl On Earth' is a hard title to follow but we are 99.9% sure we have it, so here goes...

As most of you may well know, 'DGOE' was a very evocative album for me, but with all that out the way, the path is now clear to start singing about everybody else! If you have visited our ever expanding Chat Forum recently then you may have read that the very first track is now completed bar a few last minute 'oohs' and 'ahhs' (??) and every time the chorus or title is heard by anyone (including myself) it just seems to fall into place. The phrase, 'Bubbles In My Tea-Cup' has manifested itself into some kind of entity and will not stop haunting me until it becomes the album title. Beware listeners! It has even drawn in everyone else involved with the song. I'm getting text messages asking what form of spell I have used because it really does stick in your head for quite some time, GREAT STUFF!

Martkeys, who plays (guess?) the Keyboards on this track is currently taking a break in the 'Isle Of Mann' (much needed after a week of bubbly mind-warping) he text me the following message today: When you're alone, you often mumble little things to yourself which is fairly normal - so why does 'Bubbles In My Tea-Cup' stain my BRAIN!?? There will be lot's of different Musicians involved on this project to allow a little more experimentation. I am extremely proud of what I solely achieved on 'DGOE' and regardless of anything, I feel immortalised in the most beautiful way - pretty strange for a dead girl on earth don't you think? Martkeys has already incorporated his unique and expressive sound to 'Bubbles', and that sealed with the Kyra Bernice stamp has created what I believe to be something quite special.

'Bubbles In My Tea-Cup' talks about Old Wives Tales. All those things your Mama told you when you were little to frighten the hell out of you? The only one I ever wished were true was 'A Bubbly Tea Means Lot's Of Money!' As with most tales or nursery rhymes, they all sound very pretty but their true and much earlier meanings are actually quite disturbing so this seemed a fitting subject to work with. There will be an audio clip on the MP3&Video page very soon and some lyrics to help you along for the next show! 'Bubbles' will most definitely have you singing along on first hearing, it's that catchy! So there you have it.

Don't forget to visit the Chat Forum for minor updates and random info.

Message Forum And Video Clips - 13-12-04

As promised, we are finally pleased to announce that the brand new Chat Forum is now up and running and waiting for your input! Chat and make some buddies, discuss the site, album, gigs...anything you damn well like actually, as long as you remember to respect other fans and promise to be naughty only when absolutely necessary!

Also, we have K.B.Com's very first video clip for you to feast your eyes on over at MP3's&Video We are doing our upmost to get the best quality so you get 100% enjoyment.

Taken from "The Elephant" Showcase in February, this raunchy clip contains a strong message for all you female Musicians out there: If someone should crash the stage while you are performing, first politely ask him (let's hope it's a guy anyway!) to leave the stage. If he is being disobedient, give him a sharp jab in the ribs and hope he falls off the stage. But if he still comes back for more...grab his head firmly with both hands, force it between your cleavage and aim for around 30 seconds suffocation time (adjust time according to bra size of course-we don't want any fatalities do we?) and that, oughta just do it girls! Enjoy the clip!

Lot's more clips coming next week!

Live Gig Footage
15-06-04

In response to the feedback we are continually receiving from people and fans, we thought it apt to inform you of forthcoming features here at K.B.Com.

As you all well know, K.B.Com is very much still in it’s junior years given that it was only launched in February of this year to support the release of Kyra Bernices' first album DGOE and all future projects (details of the new album coming soon!) All the information contained within this site has, up to now, provided us with an excellent foundation for all the things that are on the horizon.

Before we move on to the juicy stuff, it is important that we address the issue that some people are under the misconception Kyra is part of a band. This is, of course, a fallacy and we would like to point out that with Kyra’s own personal projects, she currently is, and always has operated, recorded and performed as a solo artist. To use Kyra’s own words, “Cook, Chief and Bottle washer!”

Getting back to K.B.Com, you’ll be pleased to hear that a Chat Forum, more Mp3’s and gig photos are soon to be added and better still, LIVE footage of the romping ‘Elephant’ and ‘G.I’ showcases are at present being processed! As more events unfold, you can be sure that we will get it up on the site ASAP!

So! Let’s hope that has made things a little clearer. We continue to appreciate all your comments and feedback and are pleased to answer any questions you have regarding K.B.Com.

Earliest gig EVER at Sound Control
08-05-04

Sound Control is the biggest music store in Bristol and for the last few months, they have been hosting a Saturday morning show to entertain their customers. Bands and soloists are invited to submit their demo and hopefully get a chance to perform to lot's of fellow Musicians - and what could be more terri...satisfying?

Kyra was asked by friend 'Acoustic Alfie,' who runs an open mic night every Wednesday and Sunday at, "The Bunch Of Grapes," Denmark St, in Bristol (Check 'Tour Dates' to find out when you can catch Kyra there!) if she would like to step in and fill last Saturday's spot and play for about 30mins on Sound Control's very own stage...lights 'n' all!

"This has got to be the earliest gig I have ever done; this meaning, actually going to bed and getting up in the morning that is; playing til the sun rises is nothing unusual here! Definitely one to add to the list as I've never gigged in a store before - especially one of my favourite stores..wink wink! Most of my kit pretty much comes from Sound Control. I'd just like to thank the guys at Sound Control for giving me the opportunity to flog a few more CD's! And thanks also to the sound guy - lovely job." K.B

Bongos for the next album?
27-04-04

Due to the growing interest in Kyra's solo campaign for acknowledgment, last Monday, Kyra was approached by Pax Productions & Ceed Charity Ltd, who are a multi-cultural performing arts group, specialising in encouraging positive personal and community development.

The group was being held at 'Dean Crescent Hostel for Women' in Bristol, and Kyra was asked if she would play a short acoustic spot to try and offer some inspiration by showing what a person can achieve on their own if they are determined and more importantly, have faith in themselves.

"The theme was African dancing and drumming and I just couldn't resist grabbing a bongo and joining in. We all had a bongo lesson and I think I did quite well! Then some of the girls began their West African dance lesson while the rest of us supplied the beat! I got a bit carried away and forgot how much strain whacking a drum with your bare hands for half an hour actually puts on the hands - it's quite difficult to play guitar with tingling fingers! It was so intriguing to watch as there were women of all cultures taking part, and it really felt like the real deal. I did want to learn the dance but...OK, there is no excuse...one thing at a time folks - bongos were good! If it's any conciliation, I practiced what I remembered to my Egyptian album when I got home!

I played 5 tracks from "DGOE" and it was very much appreciated by everyone there. It was a nice end to a very noisy but, therapeutic afternoon! It's so great that there are people out there doing that kind of thing, and I could see how much everyone felt a part of something special and I was glad to be a part of it too. Closing thought: I wonder how much bongos are going for these days? - I want one!!!" K.B

Site Update!
25-04-04

The evolution of the Kyra Bernice website has begun. We have now introduced two extra pages. Tour Dates: where, rather than browsing through our news section for gigs, you can just click to see the forthcoming shows. Links: exactly what it says. Having come into contact with many other bands, music websites etc. we thought it only fair to return the favor to all the people who have supported Kyra Bernice and the album so far. These pages will be updated frequently so keep checking back - you don't wanna miss a show! K.B News Team.

"Just a quick thank you to Richard of 'Sticky Web Design.' He's done a fabulous job on the site. He is patient, reliable and makes a GREAT cup of tea! I just had to write that somewhere! Cheers Kx" K.B

Dead Girl On Earth Gets 10/10 review!
29-03-04

Marty Drury of the National Press is currently reviewing albums for “Gigs Unlimited” and was more than pleased to receive “DGOE” in the post! Read below for the FIRST EVER online review of “DGOE.”

“Kyra and I need to talk. I’m this close to referring to Kyra Bernice as “the Voice.” There are thousands of people on this Earth who can sing. There are only a few who sing with a gift in their voice. Kyra Bernice could swat away some of her more famous contemporaries as if they were flies. “Early Song,” the first track on this album, is fantastic. Expertly written verses are complimented with an earth-shattering chorus that still manages to be beautiful. he presentation value of the new album is immense and I was instantly intrigued by the demo because of its cover. Kyra Bernice is what music is all about and boy can she sing.

Music speaks through Kyra Bernice and Kyra adds her own unique talent to complete the mix. You find yourself wanting to play individual tracks from the album over and over again and it is ridiculously easy to tap into the mood and meaning of Kyra’s music. But be careful. A cryptic wave is heading the listener’s wave and, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, a master lyricist is restored to her throne. There really is something special about this album. Kyra’s range is never plodding and she can lull her listener into a false state of security by allowing a pulsing track to follow a ballad. This album is a journey and you simply won’t want the drive to end.

“Blame the flame” is an awesome track and one finds a sorry sense of disappointment come over them when they realise there really are only twelve tracks on this album. One leave this album hungry to get hold more of more recordings of this beautiful and stunning voice. I know all the tricks of the trade that the record industry can throw at the listener. And I remain in awe of Kyra Bernice. You will too.”

Kyra Bernice storms the Elephant
25-02-04

The very first show for the album ‘Dead Girl On Earth’ was a complete success at the ‘Elephant,’ St Nicholas Market last night. The people crammed in to see the very first showing of Kyra’s original music and were all captured from the dramatic entrance to the end. After the big build up, Kyra burst on stage wearing a black army cap with the opening track, ‘Silent Speaking’ and as one fan said, “The roars were deafening and the atmosphere ecstatic!”

Kyra performed the 12 tracks on the album and a few well-selected covers including, ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’ - Guns N’ Roses – which, as another spectator described, “had the audience paralyzed!” ‘Tainted Love’ and the acoustically played ‘Coma White' - Marilyn Manson; ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’- Bon Jovi and the original ‘I Love Rock N’ Roll.’

The overall feedback regarding the album material was kindly commented by a few members of the audience when asked, as being “smooth, catchy, original; a mixture of alternative rock with unexpected emotional ballads thrown in and very well played.” Live music lover, Julian Sawyer from Eastville, Bristol said, “Knowing Kyra Bernice to be the best singer I’ve ever heard, I bought the album immediately and haven’t been able to stop playing it since but to see it live for the first time was amazing and even more enjoyable. She certainly knows how to play right into the audiences’ hands. She is very professional and I am now even more convinced that she is a natural talent. I will definitely be one of the first to buy a ticket for the next show – this is certainly not like anything I’ve ever seen before, it’s mind-boggling as to why she hasn’t been snapped up yet and I’ve heard lot’s of people saying the same thing tonight.”

If you were at the “Elephant” on the 24th February, we would love to hear from you. To submit your comments/feedback please go to contact details and we will be pleased to post your reviews here on the Kyra Bernice News section!

Evening Post Review - (This is Bristol) - by Mark Taylor
19-02-04

Showcase gig for Kyra Bernice

Kyra Bernice has been singing, writing and performing for 15 years and has built up a large following in and around Bristol. Her first album, Dead Girl On Earth, has been very much a solo effort.

Kyra has written, produced and designed the 12-track album herself and will be promoting it with a special gig in the city next week. Kyra is the antithesis of the Pop Idol style singers dominating the airwaves. She is a talented singer with a large collection of her own material.

Kyra wants to remind people that there is more to raw talent than simply a 30 second performance on shows like Pop Idol. She says: "I want people to see all the work and dedication I have put into music over the years and to be finally recognised as an artist in my own right."

Kyra showcases her own material - as well as a few well-know covers - at an exclusive performance at The Elephant pub is St. Nicholas Market on Tuesday (February 24). The show starts at 8.30pm and admission is free. For more information about Kyra, check the website www.kyra-bernice.co.uk

Follow Up Album Being Recorded
21-01-04

Plans for the follow up album are already taking place. With 4 demo songs already written for the planned album, 'Grow With Me' Kyra has decided to bring forward a totally new idea and has even halted the recording of the 'Chew It Up Spit It Out' demos. This next album will offer a rockier sound with slightly more controversial themes. When asked about the new album Kyra said: Dead Girl was very personal for me and given that I adore so many different musical styles, I thought it apt not to betray my versatility of music, and instead, utilize this flexibility to help get the message across of how special this album was for me…so hopefully, now I’ve got that out of the way, with this new idea I’ll be moving on to something more secure in it’s style and bringing in – let’s say – more daring lyrics and much more experimentation. This next one’ll be hot! - Kyra Bernice on the planned follow up album. Check back soon for realease dates etc.

Kyra Bernice Website Launch

After much call for a place where people and fans can easily find out what’s going on and where it’s happening, we decided to finally introduce the official “Kyra Bernice” website. This now offers you the chance to learn about the story behind the music and provides a comprehensive look into past and future albums/projects; a full run down of the new album, ‘Dead Girl On Earth’ and where it’s being showed; including MP3’S, lyrics and an extensive photo gallery. Leave feedback or questions and we’ll do our best to answer. Read reviews, purchase the album or be one of the first to book the show. What more could you want? You asked for it – it’s all here!
